Memory Foam was invented in 1966. Chaffee Hall for NASA created it to cushion astronauts during high-force launches, now used in mattresses, pillows, and medical beds for comfort and pressure relief.

Fun Fact: Nearly abandoned due to a strong initial odor, NASA’s persistence led to its commercial success in the 1980s after odor issues were fixed, transforming the bedding industry.
