All of these Ted Talks keep coming out about blockchains. This one just came out today and it talks about how it will transform the economy.

This talk also brings up the future of money and refers to blockchains and specifically bitcoin. She does mention others.
This third talk gives a few use cases for blockchains outside of just finances.
I get so excited about the endless possibilities of block chains. I feel they will truly democratize and distribute wealth, technology and so many other aspects of life to all. It could really be the great equalizer that many have hoped for. Decentralizing and distributing the wealth and information across the network of the blockchain will make it widely available. No one bank or system would be able to monopolize it. Competition and openness would hopefully keep prices at a fair range. I wish I would have found steemit sooner than I did. I am still new but this platform could be a great foundation for so much to grow off of it. Any popular app you see today that involves on demand services or exchange of proprietary information should and will be eventually moved to the blockchain. Having the social media base already, steem could really be the backbone of these upcoming apps. This could be the beginnings of another dot-com type boom. Anyone invested in steem or using steemit, like everyone here!, is going to be very happy when that boom comes.
So what do you guys think? Is the blockchain just a fad? (hopefully you don't think so or why would you be on here) What do you think will be some early adopter industries? What apps or business ideas would be great to put on a blockchain? Is steemit going to take off? Or is bitcoin too popular not to be the cryprocurrencty of choice?
