Greetings everyone!
One of the greatest feelings in life is the moment when one looks back at past life challenges that seemed insurmountable but resulted in victory. That feeling is heavenly.
As I sit here typing on my keyboard, reminiscing about the days when I battled deep depression over things that weren't worth it, my face brims with smiles and laughter.
It may appear childish to you, but this is my story;
During my first year in school, I didn't know how to control my heart as I do today. I gave my 100% to love, with maximum expression(but not with finances).
I met this lady in my first year whom I liked very much, and she reciprocated the same vibe. However, nothing serious was happening between us. We were very close, to the extent that people concluded something was happening between us, although nothing was. Despite numerous attempts to ask her out, she never accepted because, according to her, she had a boyfriend who lived in another town(not in our school). So, she suggested we become mere friends with an 'Agape' kind of love.
I didn't give up; I stayed put in the friend zone, hoping that a miracle would happen one day, because that's what ladies do, all in the name of playing hard to get.
To be honest, I believed her when she said she had a boyfriend, but because the guy was not in our school, I took it as a good opportunity for me to 'snatch' her.
Then it happened;
One Friday evening, around 5:30 pm, I called her, but she declined the call without picking up (the call was busy). That was unusual because she had never done that before. I called up to four times and it was the same all through without calling back or sending a message why she did so
*She lived in the same compound as my closest friend in school, so I called my friend to check if she was at home.
To my shock, my friend reported that a man, who didn't look like a student, was with her. My heart sank immediately upon hearing the report. I concluded that her boyfriend had come to visit her.
The situation worsened when my friend called at 11 pm to tell me that the guy didn't leave and was spending the night with her. My heart melted, and I spiraled into depression, imagining many irrelevant scenarios. I couldn't sleep all through the night. Thankfully, the next day was a Saturday, so I didn't have to go to school, which would have made things even worse.
Even though Saturdays are for laundry, I couldn't do any of that that day. I stayed indoors all day, only coming out when I heard people knocking on my door. I almost made it a fasting day, but because I love food and couldn't go without it, I managed to have breakfast, lunch, and supper all at once(at night)
The following Sunday, I deliberately missed church because I didn't want to endure more suffering, knowing that this lady attend the same church as me, and there was a possibility of her and the guy coming to church that Sunday
How did I survive the moment?
The cloudiness of my mind lasted for about three days, and on the evening of Monday, she came around to explain herself. She clarified the situation, explaining that she had a boyfriend, which is why she didn't want to enter a relationship with me. She didn't want me to know that the guy was around, so she didn't bother to tell me to spare my feelings.
From that day on, I cleared my mind and accepted that she was another man's girlfriend, and I shouldn't be bothered by things like that....my heart was let loose
Writing this was fun for me because I laughed all the way through, comparing myself then to what I am now. Lol馃槀
