Before I started to type this content, I first of all went to check a message I dropped for a friend a week ago to see if she had replied, but no, she hadn't replied, and I felt maybe I had gone too far with the message.

She's someone I became a "surface" friend with after she graduated from school. From then on, we talked two or three times about her progress with regards to going for NYSC, and she said she's still making her plans towards it, meanwhile, the set she graduated with had already gone for NYSC. So, my last message to her was asking if she had gone for NYSC, which she said "No," and I went on to jokingly ask her hope she wasn't getting depressed with the way things were turning out, considering how her set had gone far while she was still procrastinating NYSC.

Phewwww!

When I noticed she didn't reply, I felt maybe I had gone too far with my "oversabi" question. Meanwhile, I was only being considerate and trying to encourage her.

Life is just like time; it keeps moving, and it waits for no one. Sometimes, life hits us hard, and it keeps moving even when we are stuck trying to pull ourselves up from the hit.

Way back in my secondary school days, 95% of our set were held back from progressing to seek admission into the university. Most of us didn't pass Mathematics and English, which were the core requirements to be certified as secondary school graduates as of then. We were made to rewrite the exams, and yet, the same thing happened. After the rewrite, we all scattered to different places to find solutions to our problems. I and some guys wrote the NABTEB exam (I don't know if this exam is still in existence), and the result came out the same. Everything just appeared as though we were cursed. By then, the other sets in the same year as us in other schools, as well as the sets that were behind us, had already gotten into the university because they passed their school-leaving certificate exams once.

You know that pain of seeing your juniors ahead of you. No matter how hard one tries to shut the mind from thinking, the eyes from seeing, the ears from hearing, it's very hard not to feel left behind.
