Have you lied before?

Hello People!
I bring greetings from my lovely hood. Hope you're doing good?

We went out to preach in the early hours of the day,
We met elderly men gathered and baptising themselves with "ogorogo"(local dry gin),
We were familiar with all of them.
We summoned courage to approach them to share the gospel with them.
The most intelligent among them (he's learned and speak big grammars), blocked us after we greeted them and gave us terms & condition for us to be allowed to preach to them.
He said, we can only preach to them if we tell him the truth on the question he'd be asking us. We agreed and here comes the question; HAVE YOU LIED BEFORE?

We were shocked on the weight of the question, we knew he was trying to check on our integrity but checking that on a religious ground was another thing.
We paused, gave it a deep thought and tried to wave it off but he persisted that we must answer him unless they won't grant us audience.

Look at the possibilities;

• If we say "YES, WE'VE LIED BEFORE" he might refuse us from preaching to him because we are sinners(liars are sinners 😂)
• If we say "NO, WE'VE NOT LIED BEFORE" he might as well chase us back because he's aware that everyone has lied before.

Oh yeah, we agreed to answer him with sincerity. We give him our answer as YES, and tried to make him know that in one way or the other, all humans have lied.

Do you know what he did?
He chased us away and refused us from preaching to thrm because "a sinner can not preach to a sinner" OMG!😂

The whole moment was fun to us and we never siezed to laugh.

Had it been that we said the otherwise (told lie) the man would have allowed us to preach to them because, "not lying" [to him] makes someone righteous and worthy to preach to someone.
At a point, we started regretting why we didn't lied,,, yes, why we didn't lied even though we were carrying the gospel😂.

This makes it clear that, there are some lies that save. Yes, you read it right. Just like what we normally know as "the truth shall set you free" , there are some lies that set free too.
I'm not misleading you, I'm only saying how it is in our current world.
