I was discussing with a friend today, and in the middle of the discussion I mentioned I wanted to make a post today, but was not sure what to write about, he just mentioned the topic of racism among others which made me do a lot of reflection as I lay on my bed tired from a super hectic day. In the process of reflecting I asked myself several questions, which I attempted to answer. One of which is;...
WHY DISCRIMINATE THE BLACK
I think this isn't just a matter of black and white, but a matter of injustice against humanity because even the black discriminate against themselves in more ways than one could even think of. One of which is even trying to compare the black and white in the first place. Like what the hell brought about the need for comparison if not envy. Someone/a group of people started it, and people just decided to follow suit and for many, it's just to make themselves feel good.
We are humans for crying out loud apart from skin color, everything about our physique is the same; we've all got brains, hearts, blood vessels, and everything that makes up a complete human. We all eat and shit, cry and laugh, feel good and bad, and yet still think somehow in our subconscious we are differentiated in race. For me, there's only one race and that's the human race.
WHY JUDGE PEOPLE'S CHARACTER BY YOUR OPINION ABOUT THEM
This further proves that racists are more ignorant and need to go back to school no matter the level of education they have acquired. I month ago there was an incident that happened in the world of football between Real Madrid and Valencia where Valencia fans racially abused Vinicius Jr which led to a brawl between the players but only Vinicius Jr was given a red card for physically hitting a player, but nothing happened to the three players who first hit Vinicius Jr. Later on it was seen that the referee was biased in his decision because real Madrid attempted pressing charges. Moreso it was clear the referee already view the blacks as violent and thus acted upon what he thought about blacks than deciding based on the situation at hand.
Now even the blacks do this a lot (me included) but don't get penalized for it. We think people from a certain place behave in a certain way, and treat them as such without allowing them to show who they are and be judged by themselves for who they are. Nigerians for instant think Igbos are stingy and love money too much. This makes anyone (with such a mentality) doing business with an Igbo person psychologically feel the Igbo person is trying to cheat them.
WHY ACCEPT OTHER PEOPLES OPINION OF YOU
The Blacks are seen to racist as gangsters and uncivilized, thus many black people portray such characters overseas. The Igbos have been said to be money lovers, and many of them psychologically accept it and even wear it as a thing of pride. You will hear something like; You know I'm an Igbo man why wouldn't I love money... (Playfully) even the Hausa are seen as uneducated and stupid by many Nigerians.
In the end, it is obvious that the issue of racism is the greed, envy, and injustice in man. Greed for thinking only your type is good enough for something, envy because you fail to accept that a person like that can be better at what you have criticized them for, so even when they try, you can't see it because somehow your subconscious doesn't want it to be true if it's true, you begin to feel that type of people is better than your type of people. Injustice because we've limited our potential with this biased way of thinking. Now you see that everyone with such a mentality is racist whether black or white. I don't know if I'm even making sense at this point, but I just want to share my thoughts.
