A group of 26 NGOs have signed a collective letter to companies that advertise on Twitter calling for a boycott of Elon Musk. According to activists, under the leadership of Musk, the social network will become a platform for increasing “hate, extremism, medical misinformation and conspiracy theories.”
In response to the letter, Elon Musk rhetorically asked who funds these NGOs. So, among them are Accountable Tech and Media Matters for America affiliated with Hillary Clinton, the feminist UltraViolet, and the European Access Now, the largest donor of which is George Soros' Open Society. Fair Vote UK is also a signatory from Europe.
Of the other major organizations in the United States, the appeal was supported by the National Hispanic Media Coalition and Black Lives Matter. Activists are threatening to boycott major brands such as Disney, Coca-Cola, Apple, Best Buy and HBO. In addition, Twitter was required to promise not to restore the accounts of Donald Trump and other opponents of the Democrats.
