So a little while back I had started my own business and got into the world of digital advertising. I started out by selling google ad placement via google adwords to my clients who wanted their business to be seen. After a while I had landed a meeting with who would soon be my first client, we will call them Stormy's. Well after a couple of long meetings we decided to do business Stormy's and I, and everything was going well. We had hit it off and throughout the year I worked for Stormy's they hadn't been the type to be very active vocally with me.

Well a few months went by of Stormy's just paying the bill and not much else. Something eventually happened that required me to call stormy's and get a credit card on file. When I called I was told the owner I was used to dealing with wasn't around. I left multiple messages throughout the next few days, which then turned to emails not returned, and then to text messages not returned.

Stormy's had gone silent. I started to question if they needed my services and if I should think about letting the client go due to inactivity. Well one thing transpired on behalf of their account that required me to either come out of pocket several hundred dollars or get in touch with them finally.

So after days of continued attempts to get in touch I started thinking to myself "what kind of person just stops communication without reaching out first, didn't this person know I was on the hook for their costs?"

Well about 6 months goes by when all of the sudden I receive an email asking if their advertising was still on, to which I stated "No, I haven't heard from you in forever". I was soo mad that they had not informed me of what was going on but was open to listening. The owner of the business then went on to describe how she was in a car accident and had been in the hospital for a very long time recovering. I was shocked, here I thought my client stopped doing business with me, and they had been in a life threatening car accident.

I was happy to know they were ok. I learned a valuable lesson as well, because at one point I almost wrote a nasty email that would have put me in a very uneasy situation when they recovered. So I guess it's always good to keep positivity and kindness a strong values in your life.
