She loved him. But that same love was suffocating. He loved her too. But love alone wasn't enough. On good days, he was the best man. On bad days? Completely different person.
She felt like she owed him after everything he had done. But that wasn't right either. She was there for him too. She had forgotten her own values just so they could have this beautiful life. And she wasn't perfect either. She had her own flaws.
But they were both draining each other. But was so blinded they couldn't see things were getting toxic. At the expense of what? Some love they felt but couldn't be themselves with each other. It wasn't worth it if it drained them both
So she stood at his door and knocked.
He opened.
"Dave, we gotta talk."
"Come in, Annalise."
She took a deep breath let it out.
"We aren't good for each other. Maybe for now..?"
He replied, "I know. We tried. So... we take a break?"
"Yeah. We should."
They hugged. He walked her out and drove her home.
The ride was silent. But they both felt relief.
She finally spilled her guts.
