There were lots of games I played during childhood 😂yeah I loved playing and childhood was amazing because we had no problems at all. All that bothered us was eating, sleeping and playing oh and tv too.
Every second break everybody was always anxious to get picked by the group having the best players because no one wanted to be on the loosing side
Ampe was a big deal to us and you dare not loose or be part of the loosing team 😂because you are going to be teased till closing and even on our way home
Ampe is a Ghanaian game played by school age children , it is popular among girls
What the boys usually cared about was football
Ampe can be played by two or more players , the two players jump at the same time clap and thrust a leg at the same time when you delay thrusting a leg it was considered a foul 😂or let me just say a cheat and a replay is done
Some days when the game gets heated we start playing at one of the playing field and somehow we play across to the other side unknowingly 😂
We played ampe in different forms , each form had its own rules or number of players
We had names for these ampe types but I actually don’t know if it is called the same in other parts of Ghana
My favorite ampe type was ‘’Mothers’’ we form two equal groups each having a leader called the mother , so they teams decide the gameplay . When two players from each team play: if two players both thrust their left or right foot it’s a win for one team and if they also thrust different foots it’s a win for the other team. A team which wins a round score points and each player gets to play in a round .
This is just one type of ampe there others too , we had one called ‘ wahala ‘ because you need go against all the players and win each play else your efforts are wasted and you have to restart, and also just the normal two players one, whoever gets to ten points first is the winner
Even during weekends I played ampe with my friends 😂 I was an ampe-lord and you dare not try me because if you loose to me I’ll pull your legs the whole day
I miss playing ampe back in the days. The last time I played was 2020 at the hostel with my mates it was fun but tiring because it had been long since I played 😂
