Glimpses of tomorrow
Thus have I made inscriptions of my land,
On the state and sand wherein we stand,
Not in defiance of verbal touching oratory,
But in obedience to the muse of inky artistry,
Clad in diamond linen are my lines,
Always treasured beyond the gold in Spanish mines,
On ma, let mortals have mercy,
By chance, some lines might be messy.
But see thou what I say of this time,
Of our present and future stay in this clime,
See what in time and space I peered through,
Of visions of tomorrow so true.
I see, with joy, the future of my Delta,
How in time and tide it will be better,
As the reflection of the sun kiss the sea,
So shall my Delta, clad in glory, one day be;
Visions of the reach of time, not dim,
But vivid, creating, in heart, a rhythmic beam.
I see a Delta replaced by starry-starry gold dust,
Glistening with wonders of great worthy cost;
I see a Delta beneath the African sky,
For which tourists would vie to buy;
I see a Delta where Deltans would be regaled,
Amidst peace and harmony: thenparadise regained!
A Delta wherein our flora and fauna would smile again,
And bliss would truly be in hearts as a rain,
Though an ugly past leaves us with sorrow,
A good tide's unveiled in the glimpses of tomorrow.
