My hobby is writing. I know most of my college colleagues would be surprised to hear me say that writing is now my hobby.
I wasn't this very serious dude back then in school, so i won't blame them if they are surprised. When people used to talk about gifts and talents,i was always depressed because i never knew what i could do.
I feeel so passionate about my new found hobby because i waited for it all my life. It was in 2018 i realized i was a writer.
I am not a religious person but i believe in the God factor and the role of spiritual leaders in destiny actualization. My church declared the year 2018 as "MY NEW DAWN ERA" and new things about me keeps unfolding including my new hobby.
Why i am so passionate about writing is because it took me 28 years to realize i was a writer. The main reason i feel so passionate about writing is because it is a better way of expressing myself/feelings and motivating others in the process. I have passed through a lot of things in life but my optimistic nature never allows them weigh me down despite the ugly story of my life and background.
I believe i am fulfilling purpose by writing because i can share stories, motivationals that can awaken a soul that already gave up about life. That is why i am so passionate about writing.
I know many people are now wondering how i picked this hobby. Don't worry, i will do justice to that.

I spent all my life in Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria. Starting life in a very new place with different culture can be challenging. The worst of it was i couldn't speak Hausa language, so spending more time alone indoors became my lifestyle. I started reading motivational/inspiring books when i am bored(although i developed a reading culture years back).
In the process of reading good books, ideas began dropping into my mind and i will write them down in my journal.
This my hobby started in December 2017 and i kept writing ideas down daily.
I started writing officially in March 2018 when i joined Steemit. The thoughts of starting a blogging business came into my mind even before joining steemit but i never knew how to start.
I reached out to someone i knew that have a blogging site to partner with him. He agreed the partnership but he didn't talk about my gain for supplying him with stuffs to blog.
I naturally hate being opressed and exploited, so i ignored him and kept writing stuffs down in my journal when ideas comes. Guess what?
I am still writing,infact i have more than two journals now....
My new hobby has turned me to a very analytical and sharp thinker. I can write something out of nothing. Even when you just "fart" i can write something about fart that can thrill you.
Nothing in life can make me depress anymore, i haven't been bored this year because i am always busy. I just want to use my hobby to touch people in my little way.
After i realized my new hobby, practicing daily was necessary. Practice makes perfect.
Nobody started as an expert, every expert started from somewhere but the difference is in practice.
Practicing needs sacrifice. Sacrificing can be in time wise, financially, reducing sleep and so on...
Every expert has sacrificed in one way or the other. In my own case, practicing is part of my daily life.
I don't really have much to do at the office because we work mainly when there is a fault or routine maintenance. Instead of wasting my time in unnecessary chitchat with colleagues, i invest the time in practicing my hobby.
When i am doing other routines and an idea pops up, all i do is to write the title down so i can write intensively on it when i am done with whatever i was doing.
Nobody in my family knows i have this hobby. That is the very reason i keep improving so that one day, if any of my family members comes across my writing, they would be wowed...
When i am writing, i dig into my life. That is why i write mostly motivational and inspiring topics.
When i write motivating stuffs, i am motivated too.
Since i am an indoor person, sitting hours to write isn't a problem. I prioritize my hobby and value it.
I had a girlfriend before i found my new hobby. I know for any relationship to be successful, one needs quality time with his/her partner. My girlfriend needs to understand that things have changed now. For example If i used to spend eight hours with her, she needs to start managing three while my writing hobby takes five hours.
I explained to her that national youth service is just a year scheme and i have just a month to pass out.
Passing out means that the federal government will stop giving me the stipends i used to get. I need something to hold on to while i am searching for engineering jobs. I need to put my all into my new hobby to get rewarded.
I am of the opinion that THERE IS NO ROMANCE WITHOUT FINANCE, so i had to spend more time with my hobby.
Proper communication is the key to a successful relationship, thank God i had an understanding girlfriend.
I talked about sacrifice in one of my paragraphs. If i have passion for my hobby, it must show in what i can sacrifice for it. Right now i am planning to buy a better device so i can reach out to people stresslessly because my current device has been giving me issues lately.
In Nigeria, most people buy data bundles to be able to access the internet. When i didn't discover my new hobby, data plan of 1.5 gigabyte will be enough for me in a month. But now, i buy almost double because steemit platform consumes more data. My new hobby is very expensive
I know there are very good writers out there but i don't like competing others, i compete myself.
I learn from experts and try to grow daily. I am not an expert neither am i an amateur nor an adept. All i want is Constant And Never-ending Improvement(CANI)
It is hard to rate myself or give myself credit. My audience are in the right position to do so.
Chief Executive Officers of companies don't joke with their businesses. I don't see writing as just an hobby. I see it as my job where i determine my salary.
It is not a coincidence that i got to know about steemit in 2018,the same year i discovered my hobby. I now have a platform i can blog and catch fun while earning some money.
I am just lucky that my hobby is part of my job now.
If i have to explain my hobby to an Alien,i will just ask him/her to give me a pen and a paper.
