I'd tend to think that we are a product of or blend from both of our parent's traits and character, perhaps one or two from another role model we adopted whether we realize it or not.

My mother was tough with discipline, very goal driven, enjoyed her career, her role as the primary breadwinner and I have her temperament. On the other hand, I adored my father spending more time with me, his patience, humor, wisdom and was home more often than my Mother. He was a marvelous Sous chef, he's terrible at sewing and couldn't teach me sewing if his life depended on it but he taught me the art of cooking.
