Personal finances should be a skill taught in public schools, but it's not. I had to do learn it myself. Many years ago I decided to get a Financial knowledge makeover recommended by my cousin. I didn't want to be on a lifetime poverty plan. Made goals and made a plan. Learned about taxes, Investment, and accounting. There was no easy way around it. But I learned. And being creative. Have a saving plan. Even had a spreadsheet on my monthly expenses. A few lucky breaks helped.

One trick is programing my Smartphone calendar the due dates of all my monthly and annual bills so I don't miss any. Missing the credit card bill is costly, isn't it?
An important part of my finances is an Emergency fund. Start building one, I can't tell you how many times it spared me out of a bad situation. I spent time anticipating what unexpected expense can happen. High inflation adds to that risk.

My home is mine and mortgage free, just on my income as a nurse raising two boy to adulthood in Canada.
