Dragonchain (DRGN): introduction for beginners What is Dragonchain?
Dragonchain provides a business platform for application developers to quickly and securely deploy applications in bulk.
Dragonchain (DRGN) is a business platform, incubator, marketplace and blockchain that operates through the use of the Dragons cryptocurrency. Dragonchain was written by a team at Disney. It was then donated to the Dragonchain Foundation, a non-profit organization.

How has Dragonchain been distributed?
Dragonchain was first distributed through an initial coin offering that ran from October 2 to November 2, 2017.
Dragonchain's initial coin supply did not have a contribution cap, meaning that contributors received an amount of tokens equal to their total contribution percentage. Dragonchain did not meet his fundraising goal, but decided to continue working on the project.

55% of the Dragons were distributed through the OIC. 20% was donated to the team, 10% was placed in the reserves, 10% was given to the foundation, and 5% was placed in the Dragonfund.

What is the Dragonchain Incubator?
Dragonchain Crowd Scaled Incubator is a platform that enables small projects to use existing Dragonchain infrastructure to accelerate projects.

An example of this is what Ethereum is for Dragonchain. Dragonchain works on the Ethereum blockchain in the same way as OmiseGo or Monaco, but with its own tokens and characteristics. ICOs can be run on Dragonchain's platform, which will allow them to work before their own functionality is developed.

Dragonchain users will have early access to these projects and discounts based on their Dragonchain sleep score. The sleep score is calculated by multiplying the number of coins you own by the length of time you have stored the coins.

Holding dragons during a trade will NOT contribute to your sleep score. In order to get your score, you will need to keep it in a wallet for which you have the private keys. Any transaction will reset your sleep score. This creates an incentive for users to hold the coins, which further pulls them out of the market.

Here is a short video of how the Dragonchain Crowd Scaled works (1:19):

How to calculate the score

If you want to calculate your Dragonchain score, the official Dragonchain website has a calculator that allows you to enter an ERC20 address. The calculator will scan your address, find its balance and spit out your score. Below is a more detailed formula for the score.

Other features of Dragonchain
The Dragonchain Marketplace is a decentralized exchange where smart contracts and other services related to marketing, legal, software development, and recruiting can be traded with Dragon Tokens.

Private life
Dragonchain plans to bring privacy protection to smart contracts. Smart contracts are conditional contracts that trigger when a certain condition is met. These contracts are stored in the blockchain, so they are completely decentralized.

The information contained in these contracts may contain sensitive data such as customer files. Dragonchain therefore strives to make information as private as possible, while allowing access and use of data.

Coding flexibility
Another key feature of Dragonchain is the flexibility of coding. While Dragonchain is coded primarily in Python, its smart contracts support the following languages:

Java
Python
Node
VS#

It is important for a cryptocurrency to support multiple programming languages because not all businesses will use the same one. Ethereum, for example, requires smart contracts and projects to be written in Solidity, which is not the most beginner-friendly or most commonly used programming language.

ERC-20
Ledger Nano S
The Ledger Nano S supports all ERC20 tokens including Dragonchain.
Dragonchain is an ERC-20 token, which means it runs on the Ethereum blockchain. Dragonchain plans to launch its own platform in 2018, but for now it uses Ethereum.

Dragons can be stored on myEtherWallet, as well as the Ledger Nano S. The Ledger Nano S will support all ERC-20 tokens, including Dragonchain.

Full support for Dragonchain has recently been added, so it is no longer necessary to add it as a custom token. Learn more about storing your DHow can I buy dragons?
KuCoin
KuCoin is an international asset block exchange in South Korea.
Dragonchain tokens are currently only available for purchase on KuCoin and EtherDelta.

Kucoin is a Chinese exchange that lists several coins like Dragonchain, as well as established coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin. Etherdelta is a decentralized exchange where you can trade from your own Ether wallet.

As of this writing, Dragonchain is not listed on major cryptocurrency exchanges like Poloniex, Bittrex, or Binance.

Ironically, the headquarters of Dragonchain in Seattle, Washington, is right next to the Bittrex offices. This seems pretty handy for an add-on trade, and could drive up the price of Dragonchain even more.

There are two routes I see for Dragonchain to be added to a different major exchange: Binance. Binance hosts a monthly coin of the month contest in which the community votes to add a coin.

In January 2018, Dragonchain got 3rd place behind the Reaks and Experience Points. It's very likely that we'll see Dragonchain win February's coin of the month, which would do wonders for the project and the price.

Binance also offers paid quotes on their exchange. We were unable to find reliable price information, but it appeared to be in the range of US $ 90,000 to US $ 100,000.

Can I mine the Dragonchain?
Since Dragonchain is a token that runs on the Ethereum blockchain, it is not shabby. They said that in the future, they plan to add several side blockchains, which could be exploited. Dragonchain has a fixed supply of 433,494,437 DRGN and after that there will be no more new Dragons created.

Is Dragonchain Open Source?
Yes, and if you're interested in viewing the source code for Dragonchain, you can check out the official Dragonchain Github.

So what makes Dragonchain stand out?
On the Offical Dragonchain FAQ, they answer the question: What makes Dragonchain different / better?

They list the following reasons:

Hybrid system that allows companies to have their own blockchain.
Limited exposure to smart contract data
Support for multiple currencies, on a single blockchain.
Multilingual intelligent contract interactivity
Serverless architecture through Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Its own incubator and its own marketplace
It will be interesting to see how Dragonchain stacks up against its competitors such as Ethereum, Enigma, and Cardano, as they all have similar goals and track records. Dragonchain's incubator and sleep scoring system, as well as the marketplace, are distinctly different from these coins.

Dragonchain community
Dragonchain has an active Reddit community of 1,181 readers. While this is small compared to a lot of other coin projects, it's understandable given that Dragonchain is a relatively new project that has only recently started trading.

Dragonchain followers on Twitter enjoy a much higher number - there are over 29,000 people following the dragonchaingang@dragonchaingang Twitter account.
What's next for Dragonchain?
Dragonchain has some awesome things going on, and I can't wait to see where this project goes. If you want to follow the project, you can check its price here, and follow the Dragonchain team on Twitter.
