Happy Friday Hivers!
My mom really loves eating fresh salad, but there are times when she is too tired to make one, so she ends up eating just lettuce. Since the ingredients for a fresh salad were available, I made one for her.
The available ingredients were cucumber, apple, lemon, and dressing, but since I remembered that the lettuce in our garden was ready to harvest, my mom went and picked some.
That’s exactly what I told my mom, it would be so nice if we could grow all the ingredients for her fresh salad right in our garden, except for the apples, of course, since they don't grow in our climate. But this time, we already have lemon and cucumber planted. The lemon tree has already fruited once, while the cucumber seedlings have just been transplanted. Hopefully, they will produce a bountiful harvest.
My mom always requests that the ingredients be sliced very thinly because she finds it hard to chew since she only has a few teeth left. She also prefers just a small amount of dressing rather than a lot.
When you live with a senior citizen at home, you really have to be careful when preparing their food. That's why I always make sure to follow exactly what my mom wants.
So after making her fresh salad, I let her taste it to see if she liked the flavor. I had seasoned it with a pinch of salt, lemon juice, and olive oil, and she said she really enjoyed the taste. It makes me so happy when she appreciates the food I prepare for her.
Seeing my mom smile and enjoy her fresh salad makes all the effort worth it. I am truly grateful for these quiet, simple moments we get to share together in our home.
