This dime was originally called the Winged Liberty Head dime and it changed to Mercury dime because Lady Liberty looks like the Roman god Mercury since they both have a winged cap. The coin was somewhat difficult to strike at the mint but it was liked by the general public and it held up very well. These coins aren't found often but even after 70-100 years of circulation they have the majority of their details.
My Mercury dime is from 1944 and is in about uncirculated condition. The only clear place it is worn at is at the bottom feathers on his hat. I got this coin for $3.50 so even if its not worth much I won’t lose a significant amount of money. Some people stack these coins for their silver content but I think they have too high of a premium so I have just a few Mercury dimes for numismatic value.
