I live in a medium-sized city that is just full of deer.

There is at least a 50-50 chance I'll see deer on my street every morning when I walk out the door.

I've been saving up pictures for a little while to make a post and I guess I have enough now so here goes!

What we have on Vancouver Island are Columbia Blacktail Deer, properly known as Odocoileus hemionus columbianus if you want to get all scientific about it...

The Columbia Blacktail is a slightly smaller subspecies of western mule deer. I mostly just call them sidewalk deer...

Or backyard deer...

They're almost tame and you can get very close to them before they move away.

Some people really dislike them because they will eat most of your flowers if you don't have a good fence. I do have a tall fence so I don't mind them at all...

They don't have any natural predators here in town unless you count cars.

What do you think? Would you like to live in a town with this many deer?

All photos were taken by me, keithboone@keithboone. I hope you enjoyed them and thanks a lot for taking a look!
