Lincoln's personality certainly surprised them. At first they thought it would be easy to conquer and control the woodcutter easily. At first Lincoln did not fight against their will, but Lincoln later dared to sniff out their evil plans and immediately Lincoln realized that the rebels from the South were not his real enemies.
