Hello my dear readers, I hope you are well and that you have or have had an excellent day. I was absent from this blog for a few days, because I made a commitment with my daughter's school teacher to make some dresses for the girls, but made of paper.

I'll tell you a little bit about how I got into this mess. Since Tuesday, May 17th was the International Recycling Day and at the school where my daughter studies, every Friday of the week there are cultural activities and they were going to make a presentation on the subject.

The teacher made the comment in the classroom group chat and asked who could make a dress out of recycled paper. Since I have some free time right now, I offered to do it, I figured it was something easy to do and I would have material for my blog. Then I found out that it was not one dress, but 5, uff what a mess I got into, was what I thought, ha ha ha ha!) well no way, I had already said yes, so: Who said fear.

¡Saldría corriendo a buscarla, ja, ja, ja!

I am fortunate to have my mother who was a teacher of cutting and sewing, now retired, so I told her to advise me on how to make a pattern and everything necessary for the development of the dress. When I had the opportunity in my life, I never worried about learning to sew, because I worked during the day and studied at the university at night and I did not have time. Now that I have a little girl, I want to sew all kinds of clothes that I see on the internet, but I don't have a sewing machine, the one we always used was my mother's, but it got damaged and a new one is very expensive, so I have been left with the desire to be able to sew. I wish someone would tell me: I have a machine I don't use, I would run out and get it, ha, ha, ha, ha! Anyway, here I share with you how I made one of those dresses. I tell you that I have never made a dress in my life, until now, these are made of paper and I hope someday to make them in fabric too.

Procedimiento:

Procedure: **

First I started by making a pattern of the top of the dress, with the help of a sleeve protector I folded it in two and placed it on the sheet to draw the pattern, as it is going to be made on paper I had to leave it wider, so that when they put it on and move, they do not break. I left about 3 cm wider.

3.jpg

I kept it this way, I used this same pattern to make the other dresses, in some of them making some adjustments, but basically that would be the pattern for all of them.

I made cuts all around the armhole and neckline and glued it so it would be harder and not tear the paper.

5.jpg

To make the back part of the blouse, I took two sheets of paper to which I made a fold, both on the top and on one side and cut the bottom part with a wave to give a better view to the blouse and I joined those two sheets to the front part. This is the way the blouse is now, the only thing left to do is to decorate it.

6.jpg

I proceeded to make the skirt, according to the measurements I formed the pattern of the front part. Leaving always an edge to make cuts and fold them as if it were a hem. And for the back part I did the same process, only this time I didn't take out the whole part, but I divided it in 2 parts, so that it would have an opening and it would be easier to put it on.

7.jpg

Now that I have the blouse and skirt ready, I proceeded to decorate it. For the skirt part, I made many paper cones and placed them all around the skirt, in two rows, one 9 cm away from the waist and the other right at the waist, leaving 2 cm between each cone. I made the cones as follows: With a sheet of magazine, fold it as shown in figure 1 and cut it so that I have a square, then that square I divided it into 2, figure 2. Place glue to the shorter part of the paper and join it to the longer part of the sheet and so is the cone, figure 3.

Then I glued the blouse to the skirt and it looked like this.

10.jpg

To decorate the blouse, I formed a triangle with a piece of magazine and folded it like a fan, then I closed the straight part of the triangle, fixed it with glue and formed a leaf. I made several leaves and then glued them to the front of the blouse and placed them in a V shape to give it a nice finish.

To decorate the straps and neckline, I took a sheet of magazine, of a single color and made a long strip, which I pleated and placed it around the neckline. Once all the decoration of the dress was done, I was ready to parade it and show it off like a princess.

For the other dresses, as I told you, I made them based on the pattern I made first. So I apologize if I don't show you the step by step, the truth is that in some of them I concentrated so much on the decoration that I forgot to take pictures.

I wanted to make a black and white dress, casual but elegant at the same time. For that I looked for pages of magazines where only letters appear or where there were parts totally white and other pages with a totally black or dark gray background. I cut it into strips of about 1 cm and I knitted them intertwined with each other to form a large rectangle, as if to cover the entire part of the blouse. I made the back part of the blouse completely straight, and the front part with straps that tie at the neck, and I left the black strips longer than the blouse as decoration, as shown in the picture.
And decorate with some flowers that I made from magazine paper.

14.jpg

For the skirt, I looked for leaves that had writing on one side only, so that it would be completely white upwards. I made the skirt wide with pleats, with a 2.5 cm separation at the waist and at the bottom every 9 cm. I made the front part straight and the back part at the bottom, I left a peak so that it was triangular and decorated with flowers at the bottom of the skirt.

Make another more traditional dress, a "traje llanero" as it is called in Venezuela, in women it is a white blouse, with neckline and faralao, leaving the shoulders exposed and at the same time making the short sleeve of the blouse. The skirt is wide, long or can be used to the knee, it is usually very colorful with flowers.
In my case, I did not make it as wide as usual, because the paper does not usually fall like the fabric and it would not look very good, so I made it this way.

I tried to make an antañona lady costume, it is a traditional costume that used to be worn by women of the European high society, residing in the capital of Vzla. The dress was made of many layers of fine fabric, with armorers that made the costume look extravagant.
I keep it this way.

The last outfit I made was something simpler, more casual, it was a beach outfit, a short blouse type top, with strips all around the bottom of the top. And a short as it is known in some places as wrap pants, palazzo or elephant leg. It is a full length short, attached front to back and tied at the waist. And as an accessory I made a hat, I show you how it turned out.

This has been the longest post I have done, I tried to reduce it as much as possible, but trying to show the whole process so you don't miss anything. Now all the costumes are ready for you to wear, those little princesses that will surely look beautiful. Thank you all for reading, commenting, sharing and voting. I hope you liked it, so I say goodbye, take care and behave yourselves.
