Feelings Can Damage Our Perception

Many decisions can be made impulsively or in the heat of the moment just because we are feeling a certain way; We may make a dumb decision because we are angry, Or sad.
Or when we are super happy. We may agree to more things that we probably shouldn't.
These short-term feelings can cause a lot of damage to our more long-term self.

Whenever you go to make a decision that can make a pretty big change in your life, Ask yourself these questions...

  • How will it affect you ten minutes from now?
  • How will it affect you ten months from now?
  • How will it affect you ten years from now?

Making a short-term decision isn't always bad, But asking yourself these questions allows you to be aware of what damage it can cause for your long-term self.

Heres how I can put this rule to going back to my job. Which was a hard decision that I made? Despite being self-employed. I missed it that bad.
In ten minutes, I feel good about my decision. I see the short-term benefits of having my job back, The extra money, The workout and the awesome coworkers.

In Ten months, If I'm still working there. This may start to create an issue, Because I've been working a lot of hours since I started. Hopefully, I'll be back to being self-employed. Going back to this job, May of slowed my business growth down a little bit, So I may have to work extra hard to compensate.

For the most part, this decision is neutral.

When you use this formula to make decisions, it can help you make smart ones. .
Ones that benefit both long term and short term you.
