I haven't been on here much lately because I fell in love and didn't have the same evening free time that I had previously. I joined Steemit in August 2017, brought here by an article about cryptocurrency. Being an avid fan of @haejin, who unselfishly gives his time and advice, I found the courage to invest - and reap the rewards...well, almost. Between late December and the end of April, I took my foot off the wealth pedal and stopped watching my crypto, as it lost up to 80% in value.
Did I care? Not unduly. I was floating around on Cloud 9.
Meanwhile, I decided to let someone else follow the markets for me and invested via Bitcoin in international futures funds. In three months, I recouped the lost 80% - and now, I'm ready to reinvest just as the cryptocurrency market is recovering.
Money isn't everything. Happiness is built on the quality of our interpersonal relationships.
Being part of Steemit was great while I was recovering from some big personal setbacks - the loss of a beloved parent, a one-in-one-thousand-year flood event, etc. which forced me to take time out of my 9 to 5 and re-evaluate the direction my life was taking.
Being buried in my work meant my social life and personal relationships had suffered, so when something big happened, I had no support beyond my own resilience and inner resources. We see ourselves reflected in our relationships with others, and by concentrating too much on my career, I was losing touch with myself. I took time out, which is how I discovered Steemit and crypto and became more involved in the art community in my local area. Meeting my partner was a by-product of the time-out from my career.
Happy Steeming :) I hope it brings the same rewards to others...
