My Christmas Wish

When we think of Sydney, we think harbourside views and the Opera House, with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background.

But when I actually visit Sydney, it is to a dingy flat in Leichhardt with the sound of planes overhead. There is one going over as I write this. Then there is the endless traffic congestion. Uber does well in an environment like this because driving is the reality of living in Sydney - and it's a nightmare. I've been staying with my daughter. She is a fan of UberEats because by the time she and her boyfriend get home from work, after their commute, there really isn't any time to cook.

So when she took me sightseeing to her dream apartment, I was gobsmacked. Off the plan, she could buy a two-bedroom apartment in Balmain, and if she hangs out the window at 180 degrees, while clutching onto the rail, for a mere $1,550,000, she can see the Parramatta River with boats bobbing on its irridescent surface. Because it was Sunday, and there was time, we said yes to a peek at the 3 bedroom apartment on the water. The views in this post are from this unit. I have my fingers crossed that sometime in the new year, interest rates will go up, turning the housing market in the buyer's favour and that some holders of these apartments will be forced out of their positions. While interest rates are rising, I am praying that my altcoins will also be rising exponentially, so that I can afford the harbourfront unit at $2,675,000. I particularly liked the $2,775,000 unit. In fact, I loved it. I was hanging over the balcony, checking out where I might pitch my homeless tent.

The drawbacks to the cheaper unit were that it was directly overhead where 200 plus cars would be entering the basement carpark, and it had the most overarching view of the housing commission units across the road, explaining in part why it is the only remaining two-bedroom unit still for sale.

Another future plus is that once the units are fully operational - in a mere few weeks - there is a ferry terminal at the bottom of the street that will reopen. While it was servicing only housing commission residents, it had no passengers. To keep their harbourside units, one of the provisos is, they never hold a job, LOL.
