I lost a follower today. And it made me think about why I'm here at all?
I read on Steemit all the time about how to grow your followers and how to make money on Steemit. So what happens when the opposite occurs? Ought I to analyse that and make a meaningful post about it? How to avoid losing Followers.
I joined Steemit to gain more information about cryptocurrency. I got led here via a Jerry Banfield post on youtube.
How do I feel when I lose a follower? Like the butterfly in the picture. It's not why I joined the community.
There are lots of different types of people on here, the various personalities can be gauged by reading their posts and their reactions. I enjoy people-reading. That's another reason I'm on here. I enjoy observing; reading what other people post; and interacting.
I live in the rainforest. If I didn't have a virtual reality going on, I'd be communicating solely with the trees - not that that isn't also rewarding.
One of my very first posts was, "Are cryptocurrency the new Pokemon?"
Obviously, this was a tongue-in-cheek title, but fast-forward to today, and I think there's more than a grain of truth in this.
LOL!
The only guaranteed way to make money through cryptocurrency is via the exchanges.
As soon as I sell some real-life tangible assets, I'm going to buy shares on the DEX (Bitshares).
I am very happy to be able to communicate in a forum that embraces people from all over the world. I don't care if people write crap. Amongst the dross, there are gems. And even when people are writing stuff that, to other people, seems meaningless, they are communicating - just like my trees are with me. I couldn't imagine living in a concrete jungle. It sends people insane, but out here, what is it about the natural surrounds that emanates such peace? It's something you can't see, but you can sense, and it's absent from the city scape, unless you manage to capture just a little bit in your courtyard or in a favourite park. Today, I spotted a wallaby in my garden. I'd have photographed it, to share, but that would have spoilt the moment I wanted to enjoy. The wallaby was still, watching me. So I watched it back for a bit, then called out a greeting and walked away from it. I hope it comes back and we can communicate again. Was this a meaningful communication? Why do posts have to have "meaning" - communication in itself has meaning if you are prepared to bestow meaning upon it.
I never get annoyed by the posts of others that some call "meaningless." I see meaning in them. My thoughts in response to a simple post might be, "Wow, that person is using a language that they're not that comfortable in - how brave they are," and it hurts me if they get a negative response, whereas, clearly there are people who read these posts and dismiss them.
But on the whole, what I like best about this forum is how polite everyone is to each other. I have witnessed - and experienced - zero trolling, which is awesome. If I had to describe myself it would be - as a nurturer with a massive heart, but also a wicked sense of humour :) And I'm a little cynical about a cryptoworld full of whales...the world of the cryptotrader is a savage one, with high stakes. If you want to guarantee you're on the winning side, buy into the exchanges, while you can.
Steem on :)
