Greetings creative friends. Welcome once again to my creative space. In today's post I'll tell you a little bit about my experience cutting my first garment with the help of a pattern.
Since the beginning of this new year I have been determined to learn how to sew. I have already been working on some very simple projects to familiarize myself with the operation of the machine. However, today I wanted to take a bigger step, so I took the risk of cutting my first garment to sew it on the machine. This is a sleeping robe that I made as a gift for one of my sisters.
I was encouraged to make a mold with the help of a used garment that is my size. Then I cut out the mold and placed it on the fabric that was already neatly arranged on the table. I cut two identical pieces since the front and back of this garment have the same shape. In addition, I cut two small pieces that will serve as lining for the upper part of the gown, so that the fabric does not show through at the bust area.
Everything seemed very simple to me even though I felt a little nervous when cutting the fabric. Now came the most complex part for me; sewing the garment on the machine. Although I got a little stressed sewing the hem and the top part where the lining goes, I managed to complete the project in one afternoon.
Gracias por el apoyo. Saludos y bendiciones.
I confess that the result was not as expected, I had several complications and the garment was left with many details to improve. However, I am proud to have finished the project, because it means that I did not let myself get frustrated. I rate this project with a 6/10 because I am sincere and I recognize that I still have a lot to polish, but I am still eager to learn.
Thanks for your support. Greetings and blessings.
