I have a major sweet tooth. My husband and I both do actually. .. which is not always the greatest combo when we are trying to model healthy eating and healthy behaviors to our two-year-old.
So what do we do?
Protein balls!
I found these when I was nursing, actually, as lactation support and energy—which when you are exclusively nursing—you need all the energy you can get!
They are super simple and a great way to curb that sweet tooth without diving into a gallon of Ben & Jerry's ice cream!
All you need is:
2c rolled oats (not quick oats)
1c creamy peanut butter
1/2c honey
1/2c dark chocolate chips
1/2c ground flax seed
1tsp vanilla
Optional add ins:
Add all into mixer.
Mix well (mixer works best), roll into balls (about 1TBS) and place on parchment paper. Put in fridge and cool about 20 mins.
Store in airtight container
Enjoy!! <3
P.S. This is a great snack for littles too- once they are old enough to have honey and chocolate!
