Today was surgery day for my husband.
He had been dealing with severe pain and numbness in his right hand for a few years and recently has begun to lose grip strength.
This was very concerning for many reasons, but really hit him when he lost feeling and strength while holding our son several months ago - which I personally think is what pushed him to finally see a Dr about his options.
My husband is the kind of man that will keep going through pain. He doesn't want to put anyone out or be a bother.
But when something is starting to effect his ability to hold our son. . or worse- could cause him to drop him.. thats when he's like "ok.. I need to get this checked".
He has never been one to frequent the doctors. We grew up COMPLETELY different in that regard. My dad has been a Physicians Assistant my whole life- I know nothing else.
My husband on the other hand, has probably had more medical advice and treatment in the 8 years that we have been together than his whole life combined 馃槀.
Having a father-in-law in the medical field has finally started to rub off on him and he has been taking care of and looking into some issues he has been having for a long time.
As scary as surgery can be- I am so proud of him for taking time for his physical health and making it a priority.
So today- we got up early, and headed to have this surgery done on his wrist! He came through okay, and the dr is confident the surgery will be a success!! (thanks to Grandma for keeping our little one so I could be with my hubby!馃槝)
Now the challenge will be making sure he allows himself to heal fully!! My husband does not like to rest long, so this may be an interesting few weeks of recovery! 馃槣
