"Do you know how many lost big in crypto?"
I received this question yesterday. What would you respond to that?

I had a business appointment yesterday. Actually, it was a meeting where I received a new job offer. I was discussing with a person, with whom I have cooperated since 2018. We have an excellent cooperation. We have managed to establish trust and efficiency in our work relation.
As we were discussing, I proudly mentioned that I am about to complete my Master's Degree and he asked "Please remind me what it is about"
When I told him that it is the Master in Digital Currency, he turned to me and said those words.
"Huh, you do know how many people have lost big time dealing with crypto, right?"
Of course I answered that, yes. Of course many people lost money, and many people have made big bucks. The same is true for the stock market. Does that define finance in general?
Technology is not only crypto, it goes way beyond. We are talking about changes in many sectors who will not be the same in a few years.
I don't know what was wrong with what I said, but he lost interest immediately.
He is a businessman, and a very successful one actually, expanding his business in legit and ethical ways.
But what I was saying, sounded so boring (?), uninteresting (?) to him, so I just changed the subject and the conversation went on.
Returning home, I was wondering how many time I have done the same discussion. Most of the people with whom I ve discussed here have the same opinion. That crypto is the stock market where people gamble.
I know you may tell me, that I need to change my friends or educate them. Haha, I have tried to educate them, but everything sounds too difficult and unfamiliar, so they are not even interested to know more!"
I would really like to know your opinion on this.
What do the people around you, in your country, believe about crypto?
Do you try to educate them, or do you stop when you see its not going anywhere?
