For some reason it just feels different when it rains in the cold Netherlands versus when it is pouring cats and dogs somewhere in South East Asia.
As in, when the warm skies are still on and I can still walk around in flipflops and shorts, it really doesn't matter all that much to me honestly.
It hardly is pouring the whole day, even it is still rainy season and there are plenty of options to explore around. One of the places where the rain even matters less is when you are hanging around the jungle sites by the rivers.
Those places are already always quite damp from themselves where you will feel enough water passing you by, so the occasional shower here and there is not a showstopper at all in there.
Green, greener, greenest
More than often there entrances towards the rivers are not super clear to see and very steep down with just a little entrance somewhere on the side of the road.
In this case there was also a restaurant here by the river and that meant there was also a paved way down, which was not a bad thing since water was making everything quite slippery.
See the moss on there, when it is raining this is also damn slippery!
So a little bit more friendly entrance on this one and a statue to mark the path. It was helpful I would say!
One thing that we can all agree on (I guess) is that Bali is warm and humid just after rainy season, so a little bit of a chilling spot in the shadow which also has some fantastic waterfall sounds in the background is really something else.
I don't really get why people are chasing specific waterfalls here on the island since there just also are a lot of random ones in the river just after rainfall. And these ones honestly? Just as beautiful!
I could imagine that around sunset this whole area would be mosquito heaven honestly, because it is so damp. And in this area, it is still smart to watch out a bit with mosquitoes even though dengue isn't a thing here (as yet)
But around mid day this wasn't an issue at all and it was a perfect spot to just chill around for a bit, or even jump in there river if you would want to.
Now while scootering towards here I hadn't been paying all of that much attention I suppose, because while chilling here all of a sudden a group of people was starting their rafting tour of here.
And while taking a better look, this was literally the start of it but I don't know if I would really call it rafting, or more like floating around in this inflatables with some occasional rapids here and there to get the fun going.
And there was the mandatory pose and group picture under the waterfall with a guide where who also looked really bored starting this again.
And there went my whole idea of a hidden gem along the river in all silence. Nope this was a plain old tourist rafting starting location :D
But what the heck, this is also perfect entertainment to see what is going on there in the river.
What I also ran into was that there was a nice business of there serving food and drinks so we decided to head over there for some replenishing in the heat.
I was surprised to see there were even some cabanas and those kinds of thing, so this was a full blown instagrammable place called 'Nukad'
Never resist a decent nasi goreng right?
But hey, when a opportunity shows up for some food and drinks, who am I to resist this? A nice lemonade on the side there and life it fantastic if you ask me!
So every thing together: Finding a nice river, with some entertainment to see with these rafters passing by and even finding a place for some food and drinks?
Wow, that is a serious easy random find just scootering around between the torrential rain showers.
Exploring just brings the best out on there. This was another Bali way more chill spot than so many others you just have to pass by when entering the island.
There is so much more on this island to see if you make a bit of an effort than the overcrowded beaches.
