Fair enough, fair enough, this is not entirely a Wednesday walking of thing, but more of a Wednesday bike kind of thing. But does that really matter because this it always a good thing to hop around in the city centre and see what there all is to see.
The first part of where I had started was in a region in Eindhoven which has changed quite over the last couple of years. When I was growing up, this was the place where everyone would pass by as fast as possible as this was all known because of the amount of hookers that were situated there.
Actually..it goes back further. At first years back, the hookers were located next to the train tracks and this was really an awkward area to pass by. Cars would stop and drugs were everywhere. Afterwards these hookers were located to a square in this region that was a lot more safe space for these woman, because there was a better eye on it. Still, we think something about prostitution....But if it will be around, better make it as safe as possible.
At a certain point the city wanted this whole neighborhood to clear up, and so they did. Now it is highly gentrificated with latte bars and eco places, but is also took away the cheaper homes and replaced them by more expensive ones...So where did the people go who couldn't afford more expensive homes? I don't know...so. Did we do the right thing?
Eindhoven has been the queen of making a terrible timing of digging in the whole city which means nearly everything is sealed off. All for the bigger picture I guess, but damn it is something if you want to actually head into the city.
The 'Philips' soccer stadium is located here which is really in the centre of the city and ofcourse it is not used for like 75% of the week, but still there in the middle of the centre.
This is one of the entrances, and thinking back...I think I have literally seen a match here only once in my life. And that is fine haha.
Also having some bronze statues here is a cool one to make it a nice entrance and there you have it! The city centre of Eindhoven.
I do like a good ride out there in the city honestly. And actually by biking? That is the best way to get anywhere at the moment if you don't want to get stuck in a traffic disaster.
Most people decide not to head into the city of Eindhoven when they visit the Netherlands. But when you are there for some reason, just get a bike and move around...You will be just fine!
