Hello, my dear Sketchbook friends. Halloween festivities are always incredibly fun and fill me with a huge amount of inspiration. During this time of year, I love drawing anything related to mystery—from ghosts and witches to sorcerers and magical creatures.
That’s why today I want to share this cute black cat with you. I saw the reference while browsing social media and knew right away that I had to recreate it in my own style. As many of you already know, I am absolutely fascinated by drawing on dark backgrounds. I feel that the colors contrast in a unique way and take on a special glow that isn't achieved on traditional white paper.
For this project, I stepped out of my comfort zone and used black cardstock as my main canvas. Drawing on this surface was quite a challenge, but the result was worth it. I worked on the highlights step by step, applying soft layers to give volume to the cat's fur and make the Halloween atmosphere feel vibrant and magical.

Hola, mis queridos amigos de Sketchbook. Las fiestas de Halloween siempre son sumamente divertidas y me llenan de una inspiración enorme. Durante esta época del año, me encanta dibujar todo lo relacionado con el misterio: desde fantasmas y brujas hasta hechiceros y criaturas mágicas.
Es por eso que hoy les quiero compartir este lindo gatito negro. Vi la referencia mientras navegaba por las redes sociales y supe de inmediato que tenía que recrearlo con mi propio estilo. Como muchos de ustedes ya saben, me fascina por completo dibujar sobre fondos oscuros. Siento que los colores contrastan de una manera única y cobran un brillo especial que no se logra en el papel blanco tradicional.
Para este proyecto, me atreví a salir de mi zona de confort y utilicé una cartulina de color negro como lienzo principal. Dibujar sobre esta superficie fue todo un reto, pero el resultado valió la pena. Trabajé las luces paso a paso, aplicando capas suaves para darle volumen al pelaje del gato y lograr que la atmósfera de Halloween se sintiera vibrante y mágica.
