I dare to say that trust is a very subtle and fragile living element that is built as a result of time, energy and efforts invested by the parties involved. Depending on what we invest on each other, that will determine the growth and level ofour trust.
Scenario: Relationships
Bisi and Ola had been childhood friends, dated for 3 months, and they decided to get married. The two were in love with each other and agreed to have just two kids.
Bisi had always been fun of her body and always wanted to maintain shape and build a flourishing career. They were so in love that there were no restrictions on each other especially in times of fulfilling conjugal rights. It was never a problem until after 4 years of marriage when Ola came across pills and a special diary containing records of their intimate affairs and other contraceptive mediums.
Devastated at the outcome, Ola's demeanor and other things changed towards Bisi. Sadly, Bisi was too busy struggling for a promotion at her work. She would go on trips and many business meetings. In fact Ola's withdrawal from seeking and paying so much attention to Bisi was actually a break and an opportunity for her to progress the ladder of becoming one of the top female financial auditor/analyst in the city.
In one of her business trips, Bisi found herself in a very compromising situation with a client, and they got really intimate. But Bisi summoned courage to quit the business trip after that incidence and return to Ola. She confessed her act of using contraceptive for 4 years and the incidence at the trip. It was indeed a tense moment and Ola had to go away from Bisi to clear his head. Despite all that, Ola remembered all the beautiful times they shared and still returned to Bisi.
Trust Rebuilt
Yes, trust is built over years from our relationship with people and partners, yet a single act can shatter the mansion of trust built over years. But the irony is that breach of trust reveals what your partner is really capable off, and it reveals to us who we truly are too and prepares us to take precautions.
It is devastating, the scars of fragment will never erase, persons often live in shame and regret, but when it is worth it, we must not rely on our anger and self to prevent ourselves from building back and recovering what we have lust.
This is a response for the contest on #Hiveghana on the issue of Trust.
