@tattoodjay. The rainy season is upon us so all the fields become green and the evening much cooler. This weekend I caught two rainbows by the river during my evening walk.
The sunshine suddenly came out to make the surroundings look beautiful in golden light. Local children were out bicycling in groups while some came out jogging. The dark clouds hung low in the sky as a warning of more rain in the night. It was raining all night for three nights in a row. The earth became very muddy and soggy but very green and fresh.
The river has become very brown from rain water upstream in Laos and further away in China. Some local villagers came to the river to get some juicy grass for their cows. The lady told me her three cows ate all the time and they finished all the grass on their fields.
I like to walk along this river front in the evening even though the scenery is the same. There seems to be magic in the air and calming energy from the river. Looking at those fields, banana plants and old haunted house somehow makes my life very real in the moment. The magic might have come from the fact that this used to be sacred kingdom of the Water Snakes or Nagas, thousands of years ago according to ancient legend. They have magical power and can appear as human beings. But they are very spiritual and religious beings so they had to escape from our noisy human world. Nowadays villagers believe that they are living in the secret underworld in a different dimension. There is a secret passage from underneath a huge slap of stone under the river very near my place! Who would like to travel to the secret world to meet these Nagas?
อาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมาเราไปเดินเล่นริมแม่น้ำ อากาศหน้ามรสุมทำให้ท้องฟ้ามีเมฆหนาแน่น แต่พระอาทิตย์ออกมาส่องแสง ทำให้เราจับภาพรุ้งกินนํ้าได้สองตัวบนท้องฟ้า บรรยากาศช่วงนี้เย็นลงมาก ชาวบ้านออกมาขี่รถเล่น เด็กวัยรุ่นก็ออกมาถีบจักรยาน บ้างก็ออกมาวิ่งออกกำลังกาย ชาวบ้านรุ่นอาวุโสก็ถีบจักรยานคุยกันเป็นกลุ่ม เราไปเจอชาวบ้านสองคนออกมาตัดหญ้าที่ริมแม่นํ้า เขามาเอาหญ้าไปเลี้ยงวัวสามตัวที่บ้าน เขาบอกว่าหญ้าที่บ้านไม่พอ วัวกินจุมาก ทั้งๆที่มีพื้นที่เลี้ยงวัวสองไร่กว่า. เราคิดว่าวัวต้องตัวใหญ่มาก
เราชอบอะไรที่เรียบง่าย จึงทำให้ไม่เบื่อวิวเดิมๆที่ริมแม่น้ำโขง ฝนตกต่อเนื่องมาสามคืนทำให้ระดับน้ำขึ้นมาหลายเมตร แต่ก็ยังห่างจากถนนอีกหกเจ็ดเมตร นํ้าสีนํ้าตาลเข้มเพราะไหลมาจากภูเขาในลาวและมาจากจีน. ตอนเย็นจะมีชาวบ้านออกไปดักจับปลาริมแม่น้ำ ทุกคนได้ปลาสดกลับไปบ้านกันหลายตัว เราขอบดูบ้านไม้เก่าๆที่ริมทาง และบ้านใหม่ที่พึ่งสร้างเสร็จ ทำให้เห็นความเปลี่ยนแปลงของชีวิต และความเป็นไปที่ริมแม่น้ำโขง แม่น้ำและแผ่นดินที่นี่มีพลังบางอย่าง อาจเป็นเพราะ เป็นดินแดนศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของเหล่าพญานาคมาในอดีต แต่ตอนนี้เขาหนีลงไปอยู่ในโลกบาดาลกันหมดแล้ว
