This is my entry to #thaiphotocontest62 on impact of Covid19 hosted by @thaiteam. After the announcement of soft lockdown, we now have a curfew from 10.00pm to 4am. So all the markers, drug stores and supermarkets have to close two hours early so that their staff could get home before the deadline. We are quite lucky that we still have manufacturing industries in Thailand, not totally outsourcing to China! So, we have lots of fresh food and household goods; there is only the shortage of N95 and surgical masks. These are still stashed away by influential people for sale in the black market.

The reason why the spread of infected people in Bangkok has been under control is because most people are used to wear protective masks and we could find free hand sanitiser in all supermarkets. So, I could use this free alcohol gel to keep the virus away. In this air-conditioned market, I could find at least three free spots of free hand sanitiser. Looking at the stock of goods here, customers don’t feel the need to hoard toilet paper, water or canned mackerels!

The government has been seriously raiding factories and warehouse which had bent hoarding alcohol and masks at higher prices. So, more hand sanitisers and imported masks could be more easily found at reasonable prices.

เราคิดว่าเราโชคดีมากที่อยู่เมืองไทย ในภาวะนี้คนในต่างประเทศกำลังมีปัญหาเรื่องขาดแคลนอาหาร พอเราไปห้างเรารู้สึกว่าพวกเรามีอาหารและของจำเป็นที่ต้องใช้ในบ้านมากมาย เราเห็นขวดนํ้ากองเป็นหลายร้อยขวด ปลากระป๋องเต็มพื้นที่ และกระดาษชำระมากมาย ทำให้คนซื้อไม่มีความจำเป็นต้องซื้อไปตุนที่บ้าน แถมยังมีเจลล์ให้ใช้ฟรีหลายจุดอีกด้วย คนส่วนใหญ่ก็ใส่หน้ากากอนามัยทุกคน ทำให้ลดการติดต่อแพร่เชื้อจาดคนที่เป็นพาหะโดยที่ตนเองไม่มีอาการป่วย เราเห็นของที่มีอยู่เต็มชั้นแล้ว ทำให้สบายใจมากขึ้น เพราะต่างประเทศเขาเริ่มมีการจลาจลเนื่องจากความอดอยากแล้ว

To my surprise, in the afternoon all the staff in the supermarket dance and sing to comfort customers!! It is very nice of them to think of way to entertain customers and cheer them up! I would love to dance with them but I couldn’t follow their steps. The message is very meaningful too! Amazing initiative by the manager!

เราแปลกใจมากที่อยู่ดีๆ ก็มีเสียงเพลงแล้วพนักงานทุกคนในห้างก็เตรียมพร้อม พวกเขาเริ่มร้องเพลงและเต้นรำตามจังหวะดนตรี ทำให้เราตื่นเต้นมาก ไม่เคยเห็นแบบนี้มาก่อน เขาซ้อมมาดีพอสมควร เพลงก็มีความหมาย จังหวะก็สนุก นี่เขาเก่งมากที่สามารถทำให้ลูดค้าอยากมาซื้อของที่นั่นอีก เราก็อยากจะเต้นตามแต่จำท่าเต้นไม่ได้ และตอนนี้มีเจลล์ล้างมือราคาถูกออกมาวางขายตามห้างแล้ว เราก็หวังว่าการแพร่ของการติดเชื้อไวรัสนี้จะผ่อนคลายลงไปเรื่อยๆ
