@dswigle. The rainy season has made all the mango trees growing very fast with more smaller branches in all directions. A few years ago, it was quite easy to trim extra branches on top of a ladder. Nowadays these trees have grown much taller. We need a special tool with light extendable poll for cutting small branches. So, I went straight to the hardware store in town hoping to find the right solution to my problem.
I entered the store by the lighting section so that I could see some new lighting designs. Overall the modern lighting designs were not as attractive or beautiful as the old style lamps or chandeliers. Those LED lightbulbs would harm people’s eyesights as people who have to sit in front of computer screens all day could tell how their eyesight has been affected over the years.
The gardening section is a bit further down on the left. I always spend more time in this section as I seem to be easily hypnotised by all the new tools and gadgets. Somehow prices in this big store are cheaper than smaller stores in the countryside, the collection of choices is much better too. The special tools for cutting branches have been sold out on previous day! So, other people were also looking for the same tool to solve the same problem. It’s a common rainy season problem for gardeners.
The staff told me that the cheap Chinese detachable tools for cutting branches would not be available for months. The supply chain from China had stopped since the pandemic so we could expect that cheap Chinese tools would be sold out very soon. This gave me a jolt and a need to buy extra tools just in case we could no longer find any replacement or spare parts. Back in the countryside, I went to four local stores to find out that this type of tools were sold out within the month and I could find only two left in the fourth store. Luckily, I already bought a fancy and expensive one made in Japan from the Bangkok store. So, I bought one Chinese tool at the local store. I should have bought the last two! But I already have two nice backups, this should be a secret lest someone wanted to borrow my expensive tools. I am afraid I wouldn’t get them back.
I also bought other tools: a backup handsaw at 30% discount and new sets of gardening hose at 50% discount. These items would cost me much more at local stores near my farmhouse. This big store has a nice section on very cheap gardening furniture. I just wish I could reduce their sizes with a magic wand so that I could neatly pack them in my suitcase.
เดือนก่อนเราไปเดินหาเครื่องมือตัดกิ่งไม้ที่อยู่สูงตามยอดต้นไม้ หน้าฝนปีนี้ทำให้ต้นมะม่วงแผ่กิ่งไม้และใบไม้ออกมาดกมากผิดปกติ ทำให้บ้านครึ้มไปด้วยต้นไม้ และดูมืดไปมาก เราไม่สามารถปีนบันไดเพื่อตัดแต่งกิ่งไม้ได้เหมือนปีก่อนๆแล้ว เราไม่คิดว่าต้นไม้ตอนแล้ว จะสามารถโตได้ขนาดนี้ เราเคยมีที่ตัดกิ่งไม้ของจีนที่ใช้ต่อกับด้ามไม้ แต่คนสวนใช้ตัดกิ่งไม้จนเสีย เราไปที่ร้านโฮมโปรในเมืองเพราะเป็นร้านใหญ่ที่มีเครื่องมือทำสวนและซ่อมแซมบ้านมากมาย เราชอบเดินไปดูแผนกไฟฟ้าก่อน เพื่อดูว่ามีอะไรใหม่ๆที่น่าสนใจบ้าง แล้วเดินต่อไปนิดหนึ่งก็เจอแผนกเครื่องมือทำสวน
คนขายบอกเราว่าเครื่องมือที่มาจากจีนนั้น ทางร้านไม่มีของใหม่เข้ามาเลยตั้งแต่จีนมีปัญหาโรคโคโรนาไวรัส และไม่รู้ว่าจะมีการส่งของมาใหม่อีกไหม เราก็รู้เลยว่าต่อไปนี้พวกเราจะหาอาหลั่ยและเครื่องมือจากจีนได้ยากมาก เราจึงต้องซื้อเครื่องมือจำเป็นต้องใช้ไปนานๆ มาสำรองไว้ที่บ้าน ต่อไปถึงมีเงินเราก็อาจจะหาซื้อของที่จำเป็นต้องใช้ไม่ได้ เราจึงตัดสินใจซื้อเครื่องมือตัดกิ่งไม้อย่างดีจากญี่ปุ่นมาสำรองไว้หนึ่งอัน เราแอบซื้อของคล้ายกันแต่แพงมากไว้อันหนึ่งนานแล้ว พอเราไปต่างจังหวัดเราต้องตามล่าเครื่องมือตัดกิ่งไม้จากจีนถึงสี่ร้าน ทุกร้านขายจนเกลี้ยง ในร้านที่สี่เขามีเหลืออยู่สองอัน เราซื้อมาหนึ่งอันแต่เราคงต้องกลับไปซื้อมาให้หมดในคราวหน้า ในร้านใหญ่นี้เราก็ซื้อเลื่อยพับอย่างดีมาสำรองอีกอันหนึ่ง และสายยางสำหรับรดน้ำต้นไม้ด้วย โชคดีมีการลดราคาและแถมด้วย เราคิดว่าเราได้ของดีราคาสมเหตุผล และถูกกว่าไปซื้อที่ต่างจังหวัด พอมีเวลาเหลือเราก็เดินดู แผนกของตกแต่งสวนและเฟอร์นิเจอร์ต่อ
The fourth floor has a nice collection of home and office furniture including garden decorations. The prices are always very competitive and attractive.
