Happy Caturday: orange cats ought to be on strict diet soon.
Now I have become very attached to my orange cats so it has become very difficult to ignore them when they asked for some snacks. I kept telling myself that I should stop feeding them as they weren’t really hungry or starving. I just couldn’t ignore my cats sitting quietly in front of their empty food bowls. They had a lot of patience and could sit there upto twenty minutes.
Realising that I wouldn’t respond to their request, they would quietly ran to the garden in protest. They would just disappear from an hour to the whole afternoon. I was quite worried if they were so hurt that they became angry with me. I hoped they wouldn’t go hunting for some birds or went roaming too far away from our house. But I didn’t think it’s a good idea to use food as an incentive to keep my cats around the house.
Life was getting more complicated as ineas trying out various ways to put my cats on a diet. I shifted their dinner one hour later so they had enough time to digest their afternoon snacks. The changes of their dinner time did confuse my cats. I noticed they were quite anxious why I hadn’t returned to the house to fred them. I had to tell them that I was carried away working in the garden so I forgot about their dinner time.
The result was quite disappointed as they became so hungry that they ate up all their food very quickly. It was as if they were afraid they might not have food on a regular basis any more. They didn’t chew their food slowly as they did before. So, I had learned my lesson and tried to keep our regular feeding schedule. I would try to reduce the amount of food little by little so that they wouldn’t be insecure about not having enough food. Usually, they would eat half the portion of food in their bowls, then whenever they were hungry they would come back for more later in the day. There would akways be some food left available in their bowls.
My gardener was right to notice that I probably gave them snacks too often. It was not possible to have my coffee break and snack with my cats looking at me silently. I knew what they were thinking! How life was so unfair for cats! They had to look after the house, keep me company and entertain me from time to time. These cats were getting very smart, they knew they could get their snacks from me by staring at me quietly. So they have begun to eat very little of the dry food in the bowls as they could get some wet food during snack time!
I did try to explain to them about the need to lose some weights for their good health in the long term. But they sent their telepathic response saying that I should try to cut down my snacks too. We should be following the same principle and logic about good health. So, whenever I had my coffee and tea breaks, my cats would run to the kitchen in anticipation of some snacks.
I wondered if I stopped having my coffee break, whether my cats would stop running to the kitchen. I would have to hide my cookies and a flask of coffee outside the kitchen and had them outside the sitting room. I ought to try this next time. Meanwhile I hoped that Joan could fend off two stray cats that had recently appeared at the house during nightfall.
The black and white cat was quiet and came for some leftover cat food in the bowls in the open kitchen. But the white cat was exceptionally aggressive and threatening. I had to rescue my cats from the aggressive white cat twice already. My cats were chased onto window ledge which looked rather dangerous. Hopefully the frequent rain during last week would have deterred the aggressive cat from coming across the fields towards our house.
The rainy season made the house cooler and both cats found their favourite spots for afternoon naps. Kwan liked to be by the east window while Joan has taken over my bed for a quiet comfort. It’s mote noisy in the east side as several birds had their nests were right outside the window. If the weather got cooler, Joan would be joining his sister in the basket on the table. Now that they got older, they seemed to need some privacy too. Luckily they have continued to be emotionally dependent on each other. I always reminded them they had to unit against those stray cats and watch each other’s back in case those stray dogs sneaked into our garden.
These cats had very generous nature as they let stray cats eating all their food in the open kitchen downstairs. Sometimes I found some birds stealing cat food too. They were frightened by my presence and kept flying into the glass window. I had to back off to let them escaping in the right direction. Fortunately, Kwan wasn’t in the mood of hunting. She preferred to hunt in the garden and nearby fields, whereas Joan liked to hunt for field mouse near the bamboo grove. Several days ago, I dreamed about my long lost favourite cat, Snow who came to my front door with four little white kittens. I should try to interpret this strange dream; perhaps Snow woujd bring me some good luck soon!
Wishing you peace, good health and prosperity.
Stay strong and cheerful.
