Good day hivers, good to be on board to partake in another thrilling topic.
Adventure can be expressed as a remarkable occurrence or a striking event (as a noun).
Adventure has more than two meanings both as a noun and adjective. According to context the definition above has said it all. I would like to base my writing on a fictional story that I believe will give justice to my title.
The unfinished adventure
Five final year students of the Sheffield University in England, decided to go on tour to Africa as a picnic to celebrate their success as undergraduate students.
Mark, John, Stella, Peter and Mike decided to go on a three weeks tour to Africa country Nigeria precisely. They planned on the journey for three months, they did necessary findings and have selected Oyo town, Iseyin and Saki all in Oyo State to visit, spending ten days in each of the three towns.
They chose the week that followed their final exam. They told their parents they are going on a finalist tour that will last for three weeks, their parents approved it and supported them with enough funds.
After their exam, they were excited and planned to make fun of the tour and make it a worthwhile adventure.
They travelled to Nigeria, they had a stop over at Muritala Airport in Lagos State before proceeding to their final destination in Oyo State, they stopped at Alakia Airport in Ibadan the capital of Oyo State.
They spent two days in Ibadan, they visited several places like the first University in Nigeria and West Africa (University of Ibadan), Bowers Tower (The tower was built by a British Colonial master, and it is believed to be in the middle of the city) and the famous cocoa house. After their tour in the capital they moved straight to their targeted place Oyo town.
They visited the palace of Alafin of Oyo (a first class Yoruba king) . He was happy to receive them, and provide them with everything that will comfort them. He urged them to rest for the day and promised to take them around the places of attraction himself. They are happy to receive a warm welcome from a great king.
They were shown the historical heritage of the Oyo kingdom, the statue of the past kings, the artefacts and places of myth. They were warned not to break any of the rules associated with the miraculous and mysterious places. They nodded in response. From there they moved to the Saki kingdom.
On hearing the news of how the Alaafin took good care of them, the king of Saki entertained them and gave them gifts. They were able to see the places they intended to check which include a river that doesn't support living, they were advised not to swim in the river. "No living soul swims in this water and comes back alive" the chief priest commented.
Finally, they are able to locate the palace of Aseyin of Iseyin land. He entertained them just like the previous kings. He packed gifts and food items for them as souvenirs. They visited mysterious places within and outside the palace. They were also warned to take heed of precautions to avoid greater damage to their lives or loss of life.
After the three weeks tour, Mark, who happens to be the youngest, started an argument on the mysterious places, especially the river. He said it was just a superstition or an African folktale. It is against normal thinking and also against scientific proof. "They have no scientific knowledge, they are scared to swim because their fathers lied to them, I will surely go to the river and swim" at a point they all get moved by Mark's idea and they decide to go to the river and swim.
When they got there, they were stopped at the gate by the security, they told them they are tourists and they are allowed to enter. They first had group pictures at the bank of the river and they posted it on their Facebook accounts. After a series of pictures, they jumped into the river and they were no longer visible. They disappeared, no one knows their whereabouts. They started an afterlife journey from there.
