Yes, you can use a photo to create the 3D or 2D talking heads.
I used a picture of me to do this.
I bought the Pro for now
Might get Pipeline for when and if I get iclone cos so I can export/import the talking head and give it the rest of a body
But for now, I am still trying to find out all how to work CrazyTalk 8
It's pretty cool :D
