America has been one place I would really like to visit. I, like many people around the world, grew up on American TV. And exposure to certain lifestyles and cultures does influence a person, like it or not. So I guess, there's a part of me that's kinda American in a way.

In my younger days, 3pm weekdays, the precious black and white TV was for my grandmother. She'd finish her chores and if she wasn't working, would make herself comfortable in front of the TV. So would my aunties and I, waiting for... the Bold & The Beautiful.

There were other soaps like Dallas and Dynasty, I vaguely remember, but something about Brooke and her shenanigans had all of us glued to the TV.

However my favourite then was definitely Little House On The Prairie. I used to rush back after Sunday Mass to catch it. I so wanted to live with the Ingalls... haha.

There were many other TV Shows that we followed and waited for diligently. One whole week, 7 whole days, for the next episode. No binge watching, nothing on demand and no pirated stuff to download. We just had to be patient.

Not just the TV Shows, but the movies were mostly American movies. Songs on the radio were mostly American Top 40. So you can imagine, how much "America" there was all through my life.

Because of this, it has always been a dream to visit someday. And that brings me to The Block Party which is happening 23rd June to 28th June. Organised by @enginewitty and @thealliance fam, it promises to be a meet-up not to be missed.

Of course, the chance to meet @mariannewest (who's a maybe at the moment) and @dreemsteem who is part of the organising committee, is soooo tempting. I had hoped to make it last year and now, I keep my fingers crossed that things might work out this time around.
