When I first joined Steemit back in March, one of the first things I did was seek out contests and challenges related to fiction so that I would actually have something to post. On my first week here, I found @nyarlathotep and The Fractal Writing Contest! It was the first contest I ever entered here, and was also the first contest I ever won. :) And is totally a contest that should be brought back to life at some point. ;)
Anywho! I followed @nyarlathotep and enjoyed the art that was displayed in my feed a few times each week, one of which I commented on saying that I would love to buy it if it were ever made into a print.
Just eight days ago was this post - Space and Time, special print available - and I happened to sidle my way into the post and ask about other works that I found alluring.
I loved this one - Pastels, number 03 - and... to my delight... it was soon available as a print on Displate ready for my eager purchasing! :D
It arrived just after lunch today! (I'm in regional Queensland and am used to horribly slow postage... this arrived faster than Melbourne mail!) And I quickly set about finding a place for it. I have bare walls that are slowly being dressed with various artworks. I have a few of my own paintings which are nowhere near being worthy of showcasing on Steemit but suit my walls just fine, a wolf in the moonlight, Star Wars propaganda, and a few photos of my son. There's nothing next to my birdcage. Perfect! Time to make that wall pretty.
Squeak, the green Fischer's Lovebird, looks less than impressed by my disturbance.
It looks so much better in person; my camera is failing and refused to focus properly, even manually. It is ten years old now and I'm not the most careful of owners, so I forgive it.
But I am so chuffed right now! The work is beautiful, it's on my wall looking glorious, and I bought it from someone who has been with me since the beginning of my Steemit journey.
Thank you so much @nyarlathotep! :)
It is wonderful and I love it!
Edited to add: Semantics - So not entirely a "Steemit Purchase", but it was a purchase, thanks to Steemit, in support of a fellow Steemian. :)
