Hello! It's time for a #WednesdayWalk -- a photo challenge hosted by @tattoodjay! :D
Today was another hot day that required sitting beneath the air-conditioning. My partner and son went to the pool whilst I relaxed at home with Charlie Kitten and practiced playing with my camera's shutter speeds. And then as the sun descended and the cool breeze rolled in, we went for an adventure to a nearby paddock!
Before the walk begins, I really have to share this photo of Charlie Kitten just as he was about to yawn. I think it's hilarious!
Ok. Onward!
Walking over several lengths of parched ground and the crunchy grass that tries to grow through it...
...and past our street's Community Library. :)
We arrive at the far end of one of the farms on the outskirts of town. There are cows in the paddock, a flock of galahs milling about, and a baby magpie with a watchful parent.
Also a boat-load of flies trying to molest both me and my camera. Eurgh.
First some cows!
I was particularly taken with the magpie baby hanging out with some babysitting galahs.
I crept as close as I could to these guys and took about eighty photos! Don't worry. I'm not sharing all eighty. xD But here are a couple of my favourites.
My son started strutting off elsewhere.
He's very against photos, especially of himself, so I took the opportunity to take one of his back. :D
The mosquitoes were coming out, buzzing in our ears -- well, my ears anyway; no-one else was complaining. So I thought that signalled the end of our walk. That and the darkening skies and the moon proudly displaying itself above us.
One of my goals for today was to get a photo of the sun setting over the cow paddocks, but, not thinking, we went for a walk to the wrong paddock!
I did, however, get one of the sun setting through the trees. :)
All in all, 'twas a nice Wednesday Walk with the family this evening. One day I'll learn to ignore the more irritating insects. xD Bug repellent -- it does nothing!
All photos in this post taken by me, @kaelci, using a Nikon D5000 and 55-200mm lens.
