Somethings can't be hidden for long because overtime, people reveal their true self when they are comfortable, forgetting what they've been hiding behind the mask of laughter that didn't come from the heart and fake friendship.

Hello friends, welcome to my blog. I decided to jump on this week #hivestudent prompt "the jealous friend" because I have a personal experience to share, one that hurt me deeply and made me fear anyone who bears the name Eniola.

So Eniola was a young girl whom school brought to my region. She was a beautiful and very intelligent girl who loves to jist. I'm not much of a talker so I listened and just laughed to her stories and movies. She came into the family slowly, from needing a place where's there's light and data to prepare for exam's to spending weekends with us. We were cool and the friendship progressed. My friends didn't like Eniola because she talked too much and didn't help out much with chores in the house. Infact they warned me to be careful about her but I brushed it thinking that a young innocent girl like her would cause no harm.

I didn't know what was coming.....

Eniola's true intention was revealed after I married and left the house. I never know she was jealous of the relationship we had with our aunty. Even though we weren't related by blood, we lived like a family, went out for family outings and even traveled together. Eniola wasn't happy because she wasn't included. She tried to get information about my aunt through me which she later used against me of course.

Few months after I left the house, I started receiving calls. It happens that Eniola was spreading a propaganda about me just to take my place in the heart of my aunt. She even revealed confidential information to my aunt just to make her hate me but guess what!

They defended me before her. She was shocked they still took my side over her even after trying so hard. She became bittered, disrespectful and finally my aunt stopped her from coming to the house because everyone started complaining about her. Before then, I blocked her on all social media networks so she wouldn't be able to reach me anymore.

This was someone I helped when she was struggling financially back then in school. I gave her advise like a big sister would, I helped her get an accommodation and even stood in for her in one of her projects when her family member disappointed.

The lesson I took from my bitter experience is not to allow just anyone into my heart.

I've stopped going extra mile to sustain any relationship and I'm more at peace when I expect nothing in return from people.

Jealousy is a deadly disease that makes people do the ugly and unreasonable thing you can think of just to hurt others.

We should be careful not to let jealousy ruin a beautiful friendship because once lost, it would never be found or revived again.

Thank you for stopping by and reading through.....
