In case you haven't seen the news today or live in a part of the world where this doesn't affect you much. One of the biggest decentralized KYC free P2P networks has shutdown. Clamming issues with AI as a reason to shutdown what it seemed a centralized bot, but a private, kyc network to sell your crypto for FIAT over Telegram.
The bot was centralized because even if there were many communities around Telegram from different countries, they were all managed as communication channels for the trades.
The Lightning Network Peer-to-Peer Bot (LNP2PBot) was a Telegram Bot that work as P2P network bot. Meaning, that there were sellers and buyers ready to trade on these channels for different FIAT networks such as NEQUI, SEPA, SPEI and other different banking and digital wallet networks in FIAT.
The Telegram channels had buyers and sellers listing their offers either to buy or sell SATS (light network denomination) for satoshis and the local currency of the channel. This screenshot was from the Colombian channel, so all orders will work with Colombian money networks like PSE, Nequi, Bre-B and bank transfer. Telegram had a bunch of channels for countries like El Salvador, Mexico, Cuba, Peru, Costa Rica, etc.
The network was quite popular and used by many, until it was shutdown earlier today. The message was published on X, where it listed the recent events that led to the shutdown of the bot. You can read it here.
With the recent shutdown of Boltz, a very important Lightning Network which also has halted swaps. It has now become a very critical part of the infrastructure of Bitcoin being taken down by AI models. We could also lump the drain of the Coinkite hack of their cold wallet although for different motives. Maybe this is a good thing as we are seen the general upgrade from AI models, and building better software. But could also be an issue as we see AI destroying everything, including the Bitcoin ecosystem.
Something tells me this is not the end, and might even be the beginning of a long war against AI models.
