It's been 13 days since I started my first journey here on Hive, everyone has been nothing but welcoming and supportive. I was pondering on what should my next post be and out of nowhere, I had this sudden urge to share a little story on how I boldly got inked last year. It’s not that big but it was an epic experience. So here it is! Enjoy reading!
.
It was a gloomy afternoon in Cebu when an impulsive woman named Kristian Klaire decided to get her first tattoo without the knowledge of her parents. She was convinced by her friend to get one. He said, “Ang kasaba kausa rana pero ang memories forever” in rough English translation, “You’ll only get scolded once, but the memories will last forever”. My friends, that was when I knew there was no turning back.
It happened last November 13, 2021, and it was a Saturday. Saturday is my flyday or a day where I go out or chill out with some friends. Initially, we are planning to get our hair done on that day but this good friend of mine which we shall call “Kit” already had his haircut and he wanted to get a tattoo instead. Honestly, I am an easy person to deal with, I don’t mind changing plans last minute, I am adventurous, impulsive, and I live for unplanned moments. So I searched Google and Facebook for the nearest tattoo shop. I had to shoot him tons of recommendations to let him choose. When we both decided on where to go, I told him to swing over to the office where I work so we can go there together. We also had to schedule an appointment beforehand just to make sure that they can cater to us. Minutes before my scheduled time out in the office, I was planning to text my mother about my whereabouts but I was too scared to let her know, I know she would not let me do this.
You could say that the stars aligned that day. When Kit arrived, one of my colleagues from work which also my college friend asked me if I wanted a ride home. I immediately said “Yes” without any hesitation. Amidst the nerves I’m feeling, I’m glad that I still had the decency to introduce Kit to Julie (my colleague) because it was their first time meeting and both of us needed a lift to go to the tattoo shop. Good thing that both of them are social butterflies so the ride going to the shop was full of conversations.
While traveling, Julie asked where should she drop us off cause looking at the situation, no one is going home straight. When I told her that we are getting a tattoo, I almost lost my eardrums of how loud her reaction was. She mentioned that she also wants to get one but was too scared of the pain. Before dropping us off, she told me to let her know if the pain was bearable so she could get one. 😂
When we arrived there, I immediately felt chills on my spine. I was thinking to myself if what I’m doing is right, but something inside me is also whispering that I need this. I was nervous and excited at the same time. Crazy thing is that I already had a tattoo design on my mind because I’ve been planning to get a tattoo way before but never had the courage to do so. Kit got his tattoo first, he was my bait so I would know the level of pain first before I proceed. 😂
When the tattoo artist told me that it was my turn, he asked me if I was sure of the area where I wanted to put my tattoo. I had to strategically place the tattoo in an area where I can hide it easily. A little mischievous right? As for the pain, it was totally bearable, it felt like a scratch, but I was sweating tremendously! The whole tattoo ended pretty quickly because of the size and the simplicity of the design. I am so happy and pleased with it, and now I am looking at pictures for a possibility of a new one.
Not everything should have a meaning, but I wanted my first tattoo to be special. As a matter of fact, I have been planning for several months to get this word tattooed somewhere on my body that would remind me that life is full of imperfections. The amount of rejection, failures, mistakes, regrets, and the time when the universe collectively agreed to test how strong and resilient I can be was enough for me to choose this tattoo. Just to share a little story, my wonderful mother was hospitalized for 41 days because of COVID. She stayed in the ICU for 21 days and I had to temporarily leave my job so I can take care of her. She lost a lot of weight and she had to undergo physical therapy because she cannot physically carry herself to get up from bed or even sit. Thankfully, she survived her challenge and the disease. We survived.
Everythingoes is actually a song by RM (BTS) ft. Nell. This music was my companion through dark and sad times, it reminded me that everything will eventually pass, so feel it, embrace it and learn from it. So I would like to quote my favorite verse from the song:
You can check the lyrics (English Translation) here. If you want to give it a listen, click here.
Not to mention that after almost 3 months, here I am still waiting for the perfect timing on how should I tell my parents about this tattoo. I had planned on how should I tell them without exactly telling them. Do you get me? Like maybe I should wear a short-sleeved and let them see it and wait for them to confront me? Or should I straight up tell them that their not-so-good daughter got a tattoo without their permission? Or should I just keep this to myself and wait until they find out? Let me know in the comments because this has been long overdue. 😅
How about you, ladies? Have you done something bold lately? Let me know and I might also do it. 😉

See you at the next one! Keep safe and always remember that you are awesome!
