Hello everyone in the hive blockchain. I hope you’re all doing great and enjoying the weather wherever you are. Welcome to my blog.
I’m sure everyone is happy to have rounded up the last year in one piece. 2022 was indeed a great year for me, and I also know it was a great year for everyone else. It wasn’t all good, but I’m glad I survived. I struggled and made it through.
We experienced lots of difficulties and hardships last year. Although it wasn’t as bad as in 2020 (3 years ago), it was still not totally nice. The country’s economy has been on a thin line, struggling to hold on, and crashed more last year. The price of goods inflated. The country became a wild place that only survivors could live in.
The beginning of last year was difficult, and I’m sure it was also difficult for so many people. Surviving 2022 should be in my records because I dealt with lots of things. Looking on the bright side, I also achieved a lot. I discovered the blockchain. Discovering hive blockchain is big and a life-changing step for me. I don’t even want to imagine how last year would’ve been if I hadn’t discovered the blockchain.
I’d be a bad person and an ungrateful person if I complain about 2022, and did not say the good things that happened. Thanks to the Almighty, I never for once visited the hospital. Throughout last year, I fell sick only once and it was just a mild one.
On this note, I saw a big HAPPY NEW YEAR to every user on the hive and to all the members of the hive learners community. We set some goals last week, I hope we achieve them all. With the right values; consistency and determination, I’m sure we’ll achieve them all.
This is the first prompt from the hive learners community, and I’m glad to be participating in it.
HOW I USHERED 2023 IN
How do you celebrate a new year where you live? Do you go to church for crossover? Or do you stay at home with your family?
The weather of a new year is always different over here. There’s always something special about the first day of a new year. New Year's Eve is always special! The night you wouldn’t want to miss. No one sleeps on New Year’s Eve (well, in my area no one sleeps). The street boys are always there to rock everywhere. They won't sleep till the next day. They play music with their loud speakers and no one will be able to sleep.
I don’t know about other countries, but here in Nigeria, it is like a tradition to usher in the new year in our places of worship. Ever since I was born, I have always welcomed the new year in my church. Thankfully, this year was no different.
The street was so rough. The streets guys blocked everywhere and if you’re driving, you have to give them “New year money” before they’ll allow you to pass. We couldn’t go in our car, so we walked down to the church.
We sang, danced, and prayed in the church, we sang and danced till we entered the new year. And when it was exactly 12:00 we all shouted HAPPY NEW YEAR! We started hugging and jumping. Even people I’ve never seen in my life jumped on me. We were all happy that we couldn’t control our emotions, we just had to let them out.
After greeting everyone, we went to our different houses. When I got home, I switched on my phone to check up on my friends and wish them a happy new year, only to see loads of messages. Calls and messages started coming in front left to right. It wouldn’t be nice if I left them unread, so I sat down and replied to every one of them. I also called some of my friends. I even got a call from my childhood friend. I don’t know how he remembered me or how he got my number, but I was really happy to talk to him.
After chatting with my friends in the neoxian city, I went straight to WhatsApp. I’m not really a fan of WhatsApp, but yesterday, I spent lots of hours on that app. We got back from church around 1 am. I chatted with my friends on Whatsapp until 6 am. I remembered I have to go to church to celebrate the new year by 10 am. I checked the time it was past 6, I rushed off to bed to sleep, and I planned to wake up by 9 am.
I woke up some minutes past 10, I jumped up and rushed off to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth, had my bath, dressed up, and rushed off to church. I was an hour late and I had to stay outside. The usher didn’t let me in. After a few minutes, they allowed us (the paste comers) in.
After mass (service), some of my friends came to me and asked if I could take pictures of them with my phone, which I did. After that, I went home to start my “operation loot chickens”. I wasn’t able to loot chicken/meat on Christmas Day, I got back my looting skills and looted lots of meat.
So many people came to visit. Friends, family members, and visitors. I was uncomfortable with the crowd, so I went to my room. My siblings and some of my cousins came to my room. We watched movies and talked. My favorite TV channel is Nickelodeon, but sadly they were just repeating old shows, so I had to change the channel to something else. I changed the channel to “M Movie Zone” luckily one of my favorite cartoons was on “Rio”, we all watched. We watched Rio 1 and 2. If you’re a cartoon lover, I recommend you see it.
We ate Jollof rice, mixed with fried rice and fried chicken for lunch. I was unable to finish my food because I had consumed a lot, so I had to give it to my cousin.
I did not step out of my house to celebrate the new year, I enjoyed myself with my family at home.
