Hello everyone and welcome back to another of my fractal art projects. I am a fractal artist. I love creating and designing fractal images. There are days that I start on projects. I promise myself I'll only dedicate a couple hours to the program. Several hours later, I'm still working to locate on the grid the perfect shape that reflects my subject matter. It's totally addictive.
As I was working on my drawing for today, I was hoping to create a set of eyes that spoke volumes.
I named my drawing The Vigilant Watcher. He tireless oversees all he's assigned to protect.
Here's how I created my fractal creature.
My Tools
To begin, I utilized Apophysis 2.09. For those not familiar with Apophysis 2.09, it's an open-sourced digital drawing software that utilizes algorithms to generate code known as "flames".
The program uses triangles to represent the coordinates needed to alert you where your position is on the grid.
The flames render the drawings before saving them.
My Process
A standard sample rendering was the basis for my design. I set the variation to a fan feature.
I had no idea that my image above would appear after just a few iterations. From experience, I decided to turn my triangle coordinates in a clockwise motion to fill out the back side of the image.
I decided the color was perfect for the alien look. The image seems to resemble some type of creature with wide eyes. Each eye is different in size and shape. One eye is larger than the other with different coloring. That's what intrigued me with the image. I knew I didn't want to go any further in the design.
My Completed Project
Look at those eyes. The left one appears weary. I can only imagine what knowledge lay behind them. What have those eyes witnessed during their lifetime?
I hope I succeeded in my quest to create a set of eyes that was mysterious and alluring. I had no idea I'd also get an amazing creature to accompany them. On second thought, the image looks psychedelic with the blend of different colors.
