Hello everyone and welcome back to another of my fractal art projects. I am a fractal artist. I love creating and designing the drawing. Drawing projects can take up a lot of time, especially stopping and going in another direction if your result isn't what you'd hoped. As I was working on a drawing, I literally took a moment and scratched my head. That's when I thought about what's inside my brain that causes it to function and think intelligently.
Another thought. What if ideas were separate living tissue and mass that developed into separate beings apart from myself. Scary thought, indeed. That's when I began to think of small masses that could grow until they protruded outside the skull. The subject effectively would be their "host" until the ideas became fully developed. That when I conceived the name of my project, The Host.
What happens next after the ideas grow? I hadn't thought that far. However, the thought intrigues me. My next project perhaps. The ideas may be too powerful for this world to bear.
TOOLS
To begin my project, I started with an image I located at a site that allows free use for commercial purposes. The image represented the fantasy genre. I often utilize such images with working on alien themes.
I only needed the head portion. The man's cracked face appearance was perfect to create the illusion that something was not right in his life.
The remainder of my images I designed in Apophysis 2.09. For those not familiar with Apophysis 2.09, it's a digital drawing software that utilizes algorithms to generate code known as "flames". The flames render the drawings before saving them.
My first image I created to resemble a mass of ideas each separate, but contained in a single unit inside the head until they enlarge and protrude outward.
My second image is the cloudy brain fog that surrounds my subject. The intent was to focus on the masses emitting their ideas in all directions.
PROCESS
To complete this alien art project, I uploaded all three images into Canva. This is another design program. Starting with the man's head, I added one mass that represented an idea. This would create the effect that the idea first grew inside the man's head.
However, the idea multiplied until it became to numerous to be contained inside. They eventually erupted and attached themselves on the outside of his head. Creating the illusion of numerous ideas involved adding several layers of small masses on top of the man's head.
His brain and face cracked under the pressure of all the ideas forming simultaneously.
If you look at the small masses below, they resemble individual brains. On the right-hand side of the image, you can see how two of the ideas have burst through and have emerged.
The background was the key I feel to showing how the masses were emitting the ideas. The cloudy appearance of the background surprised me. It illuminated the ideas. Having them point in different directions was more effective. The background now seems to come to the forefront.
All this activity has changed the man's appearance. He appears to be a mere shadow of himself. I have to wonder after I finished the project..too much creative thinking may cause this to happen to me!
COMPLETED PROJECT
I hope I succeeded in my quest to create a mass of ideas weighing a person down from the pressure.
Thanks for taking the time to view my post and my images. I'd like to hear from you if you feel I accomplished what I set out to do for this project. Look for THE HOST on NFT Showroom soon.
Thanks,
Happy rest of the week everyone with whatever your endeavors.
