Thanks so much kemmyb@kemmyb for your visit and analysis, which is spot on. The song by The Animals I've loved since childhood, and it's on my weekly playlist still. It brings home the dire warning to avoid the Rising Sun. I was born in Louisiana, but in the northern part. I tend to avoid the south, especially New Orleans.

I wanted to try the first person arc since the story was so deeply personal to see how the experience truly affected the young man. Since teens are curious, the opportunity was their waiting. As Madam Ursula confirmed, "I've been waiting for you." He didn't flinch as though deep within he knew his fate.

The practice of Voodoo in itself is an extremely misunderstood religious tradition. Like any practice, good and evil exists.
