An interesting subject for my fractal project this week. I love working with digital art, creating unique fractals. When I first began working with digital images, I found the learning curve to be steep. However, continued practice, together with tutorials to understand the basics, have afforded me the opportunity to branch out on my own and experiment combining different images to complete a theme.

On first glance at my latest fractal design, you may think...a Crustacean? What is she thinking? But that's exactly what art is, especially digital. It's interpretative. When I completed my initial fractal, the only items that popped out at me were the eyes.

My mind's eye formed the remainder of the body and legs. It's a crab. Yes, exactly I thought. I never looked back and forged ahead completing my Krussty Krabb fractal project.

The image may not look like a Crustacean, but if you concentrate, the outline is there.

Wiki reports that although most crustaceans are aquatic animals that are deemed free-living, there exists few specifies that dwell on land. I feel that, unless you're a Carcinologist, most regular individuals know the more popular of the species such as lobsters, crayfish (I call them crawfish from my youth), crabs, shrimp, krill, prawns, and mantis shrimp. 1

I wanted to share with you my digital art fractal project.

During a recent digital drawing session utilizing the fractal rendering program, Apophysis 2.09, I created an image that looked like just a mangled threads of lines and circles.

However, two green eyes bulged. The half circles looked like tentacles. I thought this would make for an interest, green-colored sea creature.

I felt it would be interesting to see how the legs would coordinate with each other to form the stance of a crab. You can fully appreciate this image if placed on a black background.

I've discovered that if you create fractals that are meant to be used as transparencies, then placing them on a black background will produce the unique image where you can visualize all the elements of the image.

The other objects in the project were created from different parts of the fractal image and enlarged. I also added another fractal image to depict a food source.

I hope you like my fractal art project.

I previously provided directions on how to create fractal drawings. To see complete instructions on maneuvering and manipulating the triangles, see my how-to post here.

Thanks for taking the time to view my post. If you'd like to try any of the programs I mention here, just let me know below, and I'll help if you require any.
