my body must learn
to respond to sweetness
this skin never learned
what tenderness felt like
but here you came
like a balm
for weeping wounds
so studying softness
will become my work

Hello everyone!

Thank you for all the birthday wishes! It's been a good few days. Before I got into talking about today's poem I wanted to mention two things. The first one is related to Creative Coin and it's this post entitled "What Types of Creative Content Does the Creative Coin Community Accept" which I think is a great post for anyone who is confused. The second one is an account from Neoxian City literally called Neoxian City that curates city members' post with a newspaper theme. Good ways to connect more to these two tribes.

So today's poem is another love poem. This one is about when you find a good love that opens you up. It's probably not a huge surprise, but I wrote this poem in response to my current partner.

It's a pretty magical feeling when you encounter someone who really gets you. There's so much sweetness and care in our relationship and it really helps me be inspired to be sweeter and more tender in the world around me. But this was definitely something I had to work at a bit. Even though we want good things in our lives, we aren't always going to be immediately receptive if we haven't experienced them. I found that I would respond suspiciously at first to a lot of things that now I find quite comforting. We are shaped by our experiences and it is sometimes a process to learn new and different ways of being.

But it is a wonderful thing to feel so inspired by someone's behaviour that we want to grow and expand. I have definitely learned from my partner's example to become a more present and tender partner. We've been together... Hmm... about 3 and a half years now? I changed over that time to learn different sides of myself.

It's okay if we must learn softness. It's important to acknowledge what we're been through and let ourselves grow beyond it.

Wishing you a lovely day!

xo
